Successful completion of the program prepares a student to work in public schools, preschools, Head Start, or day care centers, and related programs for children and families

The curriculum emphasizes managing a supportive learning environment where young children representing diverse cultures and abilities feel respected and have the opportunity to develop emotionally, socially, physically, and intellectually.

Students must be admitted to both the College of Education and the McMicken College of Arts and Sciences. They must meet all requirements of both colleges and will receive a bachelor's degree from each college. Students successfully completing the five-year program will also receive Ohio K through 3rd grade teaching certification with pre-K validation and will have 12 to 15 graduate credits applicable to a master's degree in early childhood education, subject to meeting graduate admission requirements.
