Philosophy

Much of my teaching experience has come from the wealth of knowledge that I have gained  during my internship. The year long teaching experience has allowed me to put my knowledge of education to practice. I feel that this was beneficial since it allowed me time to experiment with all of the philosophies that I have learned at the university. This is in no way a complete list because I myself have not had enough experience to fully develop my personal philosophy.

I believe…

• all children can learn.
• children with special needs are a valuable part of the classroom.
• children learn best when they have the opportunity to explore their materials.
• students need to have the opportunity to develop socially and emotionally as well as physically and academically.
• children learn best when they are able to construct knowledge for themselves.
• children should have input in what they want to learn.
• we are life long learners.
• teachers need to be aware of the different learning styles and incorporate activities for each in their units.
• children need to be taught problem solving strategies.
• technology needs to be integrated into the curriculum.
